Basic Coupon lingo:
Probably the most common/used terms you will see....
.50/1, .50/2: Cents off one item, Cents off two items, etc.
$1/1, $1/2: One dollar off one item, one dollar off two items, etc.
2/$1, 3/$2: Two items for one dollar, three items for two dollars, etc.
BOGO or B1G1: Buy One Item, Get One Item FREE
B2G1: Buy 2wo Items, Get One Item FREE, etc.
Blinkies: Basically a machine that dispenses a coupon
(May or may not have a blinking light)
DND: Do Not Double
DND5: Coupon states do not double but bar code begins with a 5
(This type of coupon WILL double at most stores that double coupons)
DND9: Coupon states do not double but bar code begins with a 9
(This type of coupon will NOT double at most stores that double coupons)
Ea.: Each
Exp.: Expires
GC: Gift Card
Insert: Coupon that was inserted in the Sunday paper
MFR: Manufacturer's Coupon
MIR: Mail-In Rebate (Not instant savings)
MM: Money Maker (The store PAYS you to buy the product) (Mainly with Drug Store Purchases)
OYNO: On Your Next Order (Ex. Save $5.00 OYNO)
OOP: Out Of Pocket (What you actually paid) (Mainly with Drug Store Purchases)
Peelie: Coupon found on the actual product that you Peel-off (I call this FREE money)
Q: Coupon
Stacking: Using BOTH a manufacturer's coupon and a store coupon on one item
Tearpad: Pad of coupons attached to a shelf that you tear off
WYB: When You Buy
YMMV: Your Mileage May Vary (might work at some stores but not others)
Other Coupon lingo:
Not the most common/used terms but ones you might see....
Beep: The sound you hear when the cash register needs the cashier to input more information
Catalina: This is a type of coupon that prints from a Catalina machine while your receipt prints
ETS: Excludes Trial Size
OOS: Out Of Stock
PSA: Prices Starting At
UPC: The bar code (Either found on a coupon or a product)
Store Specific Coupon lingo:
Pertains to certain stores....
CVS Lingo:
ECBs: ExtraCare Bucks (Money/Coupon that prints out on the bottom of your recipt)
Walgreens Lingo:
IVC: Instant Value Coupon, Walgreens' store coupons found in ads and monthly booklet
RRs: Register Rewards, Walgreens' Catalina coupons
Sunday Newspaper Coupon Inserts Lingo:
P&G: Procter & GambleRP: Red Plum
